2016 Ribbon Cutting for the Simley Theatre of Performing Arts

On Thursday, November 5th, 2015, my royal ladies and I were invited to be a part  of the Simley High School Preforming Arts Center Grand Opening! We were all excited to be a part of this tremendous event and to explore how the school has been transformed in the past year. As a Simley student, it was amazing to see what the upcoming grades will be able to work with. From the band and choir rooms to the wrestling and dance rooms to the amazing theater, I was in awe. I would like to send a personal thank you to the school for inviting my royal family to attend and be a part of this astonishing addition of an amazing school!

2016 Moster Bash Parade

IMG_2134

On Saturday, October 31st all five girls and I were in Cottage Grove’s Monster Bash parade. The theme we chose was Super Mario Brothers. All of us had different costumes: Stephanie was Mario, Liv was Luigi, Olivia was Toadette, Taylor was Princess Peach, Hillary was Princess Daisy, and I was Toad. Despite the rain and cold, we set up the float and added all of the awesome decorations we had worked on. Thank goodness we had the parents, Lori, and Dale though because they were really the ones pulling it all together when we had to get on the float and go. The rain didn’t stop everyone from coming out to watch the parade and it was really fun seeing the little kids waving to us in their Halloween costumes. It might not have been the dream day for a parade, but in the end we all had a lot of fun, our costumes and float looked amazing, and we came home with a third place trophy!

2016 Boo-Bash

On Friday, October 30th, me and my Royal Family helped kick-off Halloween at the Boo Bash community event at the Grove. I enjoyed helping the kids with Halloween themed crafts, like spiders, ghosts, owls, and bats. My favorite costumes were the Snow White and Wicked Queen and Mario Brothers. I loved seeing all of the costumes and the best part of the night was dancing with the crowd. It was a fun community event for all.

Autumn is a wonderful time of year in Minnesota, especially at the Inver Grove Heights Gerten’s. The Inver Grove Heights Royalty had the opportunity to support a sponsor of our program and interact with the community on Saturday, October 24 at Gerten’s Pumpkin Fest. We played games, stuffed scarecrows and enjoyed the wonderful fall weather. It’s not too late to stop by Gerten’s and get your pumpkin. You can also check their website for upcoming community events.

2016 Run for The Hills

2015-10-09 20_57_04

On Saturday October 10th, my royal family and I went to the Run For The Hills 5K at the Inver Hills Community College. At the event we helped pass out water and encourage people along the way. The best part of the day was seeing how the happiness and kindness was so contagious.  It feels really good to support other people.  I also learned that we can fill cups with water and organize then really fast.  Overall, we filled the event with our positivity, and learned encouraging people no matter what their circumstance feels good.

2016 School Supply Drop Off

image

Today Sep 21, 2015 Rachel and I distributed school supplies to Inver Grove Height Middle School. We talked to the principle about the school supplies and she was so happy and filled with joy. It felt so good helping my own school with giving people school supplies that might not have any. We all give a huge thanks to the candidates for all the school supplies that they donated. The supplies went to the Simley High, IGH Middle, Hilltop, Salem, and Pine Bend. So much school supplies I bet every one was happy when they got them. I really want to see and give them out to the students to see where it goes from then on out.

2016 Mother Goose Olympics

IMG_1895

On Saturday, September 19th my royal family and I were able to spend time at the Inver Glen Library helping out at the Mother Goose Olympics. The kids that participated were all around preschool age. The weather was beautiful which allowed us to have all of the relay races outside! The events ranged from jumping hurdles to racing to fill up a bucket with water. My absolute favorite part of the whole event was seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces and giving them high fives because it made me feel so happy that they all had a great time! After all of the games were finished we helped each participant make their own medal out of beads and picture cards. They also got to leave with a delicious snack and their very own book! I hope we will get to do more events like these as the year goes on.

On September 13th, me and five other girls attended our first event, “Explore Cahill Ave,” as the 2016 Inver Grove Heights Royalty. Our royal family had a great time meeting local businesses, shooting a fire truck’s water hose in the Public Safety Display, and introducing ourselves for the very first time at the 29th annual pet contest! The little miss and little princess even got to ride ponies! On behalf of the rest of my royal family, we are so excited to represent this beautiful city for the next year.

Trish Harwell 2015 Miss Inver Grove Heights visits her sponsor – Heartland Credit Union

Heartland

Today, August 19th I visited my sponsor Heartland Credit Union. I told them how my year as a royalty member had gone, how we will have completed 88 events as of coronation day and how I was very thankful for their sponsorship to our program. Without them I would not have been able to have the year I had. Very bitter sweet visiting them at the end of my year. Only 3 weeks left!!

Lauren Henninger – 2015 Junior Miss Inver Grove Heights, Sponsor Visit

LH Sponsor
Throughout this year I have come to realize that a sponsor is not just someone who donates money to our program, but someone who genuinely cares about seeing our program and me grow.  They are people in and around our communities that want to give us opportunities to meet new people, learn many life skills and also become better people.  Rochelle Vankempen at Captive Images Hair Salon has given myself and many other girls just that opportunity.  Being my sponsor she has been very involved in seeing that my experience has been a positive one.  She is always giving me encouraging words and just checking in to see how I’m doing.  But she also sets a great example for me by giving her time to many different volunteer positions and showing me how important it is to give back.  So, thank you Rochelle and all the other supporters, volunteers and sponsors!
Yours truly,
Lauren Henninger
