Annaleigh’s Service Project

I completed my second service project by handing out programs for a Memorial Day ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The ceremony honored veterans who served and I had the opportunity to meet and thank them for serving in several wars and some during peace time.

It was great seeing so many people come out in the community to celebrate the occasion and participate in singing patriotic songs.

I’m happy that I got to participate by volunteering in this way.

Happy Memorial Day!

Westby Weekend

On Saturday and Sunday May 20th and 21st, my royal sister and I went to Westby Wisconsin. We got to meet other royalty groups and got many great photo opportunities. We visited the amish farms, we got to go into many shops like bakery’s, flower shops, and grocery stores. We met many new people. My royal sisters and I got to to know each other a little better. On Sunday we got to be in a parade, we got to see a bunch of new faces. We spent lots of time together.

Woodbury Disco

My royal sisters and I attended Woodbury’s 70’s disco party fundraiser.  The event was held at Portside in Stillwater that overlooked the river.  The place was decorated like a 70’s disco party with photo booth props, yummy treats you could buy, a silent auction raffle and lots of balloons.  Woodbury, Jr. Winter Carnival and Winter Carnival royalty all attended the event with us.  They hosted a few games like the limbo and a who can blow the biggest bubble game that Evelyn won.  She earned a prize of a pack of gum and a small painting.  The event was really fun and I’m so glad I was able to participate.

Ryleigh’s Second Service Project

This past week I completed my second service project. I chose to partner with Secondhand Hounds because my family has fostered several animals through them.
Since it is getting warmer outside it’s much more likely for foster cats to sneak out of windows and doors and become Lost Cats. I made a lot of Lost Cat signs with the phone number of Secondhand Hounds. When a foster cat is reported as missing SHH will put a picture on the signs I made and get them out right away. The first 45 minutes is the most important to find the lost cats. These ready to go signs should help with that.
I also made three different kinds of cat toys- totaling 75 homemade cat toys. Now the foster cats will have toys at SHH and at their foster homes.
I really enjoy helping animal and hope to partner with SHH again in the future!

West Saint Paul Egg Hunt

On April 8 we helped with the West St. Paul Easter Egg Hunt. It was cold out, but the snow had melted enough for the hunt to be held outside. A large group of volunteers helped with set up, hiding eggs, the Concession Stand, distributing treats and prizes, and cleaning up after. The Easter Bunny was there for kids to get photos taken during the event. Hot cocoa and donuts were available at the Concession Stand. Lucky kids that found the Golden Eggs got special prizes. We were assigned to different age groups hunts to supervise that everything went well. There were lots of excited kids with their buckets, baskets, and bags ready to go! The kids had a fun time. And it was very fun to watch.

Project Fairy Godmothers

For my second service project, I became a Fairy Godmother for a day and assisted several high school girls to pick out a dress for their Prom. Project Fairy Godmothers was founded by Cassandra Marshall in April 2014. Her dream was to provide a new or gently used dress to any girl that is unable to afford one to attend her Prom. The giveaway event took place on April 1st, 2023 in St Paul. I really enjoyed meeting all the volunteers and being a personal shopper. The biggest reward was seeing the smile on their faces when they found the perfect dress,  then I helped to style it with jewelry and makeup. I will be looking forward to next year’s event and I’ll volunteer again.

Sincerely,

Community Easter Egg Hunt

On April 1st, after the snowstorm, we helped with the Easter Egg Hunt at Veterans Memorial Community Center. It was supposed to be at Oakwood Park but it was relocated because there was no way the Easter eggs would sit nicely on the snow for the little kids. Instead, we scattered about 1,000 eggs in the gym for three waves of kids to collect and then turn in for a goodie bag. We even got to hide 3 special golden eggs and the lucky finders received a special gift. The Easter Bunny was there for kids to take pictures with and they were all so excited! My royal sisters and I took turns escorting the bunny and explaining the rules to the kids.

Moose Lodge Easter Breakfast

On April 1, 2023, my royal sisters and I attended the Moose Easter Bunny Breakfast at the Moose Lodge. We had a great time meeting the Easter Bunny, passing out cookies, planting flowers, and talking to our community. I hope everyone has a Hoppy Easter.

Senior Living

On March 31st my royal sisters and I were able to spend some time with some senior residents of a nearby senior home. They came into the kitchen area and we served them tea and cream puffs. Once they were served, we joined them and talked about anything they wanted to talk about. Most of them wanted to hear about what I did but shared some memories of theirs, too. One of the residents was a former Aquatennial Queen! It was fun to listen to their stories.
