2015 Sparkle Night at the Twins

On July 28 we had the privilege to attend sparkle night at the Twins. Royalty from all over the state of Minnesota and Wisconsin came together to support the twins. We got the great opportunity to walk around the gravel on the field before the game began and had our city announced we represented. We had an amazing time visiting and watching the game, we even made it on the jumbotron! It was a fabulous night and I’m glad we got to experience it together.

July 21 we attended Dan and Carol’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Carol is our amazing wardrobe coordinator and Dan is the second grandpa to us all.  We were happy to show our love and congratulate them.
We were in attendance with past St. Paul Winter Carnival and Kaposia Days Royalty.  I discovered a former teacher of mine was part of a S. St. Paul Royal Family. The night was full of fun and excitement.

2015 Service Project – Trish Harwell

Trish Service 2

Tonight, July 20th a group of 19 family and friends accompanied me to Feed My Starving Children in Eagan to complete my final service project. Here, we packed bags of food for children who are suffering hunger in countries around the world. These specific boxes final destination will be Haiti.  We were there for an hour and a half and had packed 133 boxes (32 bags in a box) which is 28,729 meals total! These meals will feed 79 children in Haiti for a year! Each meal only costs 22 cents! It was a great experience with laughter, jokes, music and lots of excited yelling. In addition to family and friends, I also had some help from other royalty groups! Miss South St. Paul 2014, Jr. Winter Carnival Queen of the Snowflakes 2014, Miss Northstar State 2015 and three Winter Carnival guards had graciously taken time out of their busy schedules to come help me with my last project and most importantly, the children who are in need of this food. I had a great time and it was a wonder way to end my final service project!

2015 Royal Family Candidate Picnic

2015 picnic

At our annual Candidate Picnic, which was held at South Valley Park, we were able to spend some fun time with the candidates and their families. It’s always fun because we get to know them all a little bit more and just hang out. We had fun playing baseball and frisbee. We also had a great potluck meal where everyone brought something of their choice to share.

On July 13 I went to Kaposia Education Center to help serve food to the summer school kids and to kids and family’s who can’t afford lunches. I met Denise she was the head lunch lady who told everyone what to do. I also met Peggy and her husband who have volunteered serving lunches for four years! I just want to thank them and all volunteers for volunteering. We served over 100 kids and families. It was a great time and after I helped cleaned up and even got to see my 4th grade teacher.

2015 Kick Off to Summer

The Kick off to Summer at Inver Glen Library was so much fun.  When we first arrived we had tiKick off to Summerme to meet and talk with all the kids as they were arriving.  We worked with the “Friends of the Library”  organization and put temporary tattoos on the kids that wanted them.  We listened to the band that played really awesome children’s songs, had ice cream sundaes and played with the kids.  I had a really good time and would love to do it again.

2015 Kaposia Days Candidate Showcase

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

On June 3, Lauren and I went to the Kaposia Days Candidate Showcase. It was very fun and interesting because the Kaposia Days Candidates got to make a dish that was traditional or represents themselves and their families. There was a lot of different dishes i never heard off and got to try like, schnekene which is a German dish and I hoped that I spelled it right. Lauren and I got to bound more with the candidates and and with the South St. Paul royalty ladies. We even got tot meet hopefully one of the new kings for the St. Paul Jr. Royalty.

Service Project – Trish Harwell

IMG_7431
Harbor Community Church-Prior Lake, MN
For my first service project I decided to reach out to friends and family to collect clothing donations for those in need. I had come across Harbor Communty Church because they offered a service to those in need, for free. In the church is a big room filled with jackets, clothes for all ages and sexes, books, toys, diapers, food etc for those who are down on their luck. The families are welcome to come and receive the help needed at no cost. What sets this place apart from others is that there is no limit on what you are able to receive in one sitting. This is what caught my eye and made me want to donate to this organization. A total of 589 items were collected and donated from 11-10-14 to 1-16-15, including 2 infant car seats!

For my second service project I decided to collect prom dresses for Operation Glass Slipper.
Operation Glass Slipper is a non-profit created in Minnesota that provides prom gowns and accessories for high school students at NO CHARGE who would be unable to attend prom due to family financial difficulties/hardships. Operation Glass Slipper has “Fairy Godmothers” who each join a girl on her journey to make her prom perfect. These Fairy Godmothers help her pick out a dress, shoes and accessories, at no charge. Beginning on February 25th, 2015 and ending on May 21st, 2015 a total 48 dresses were collected and donated at Weddings By Tess in Apple Valley MN, who is also a sponsor of the Inver Grove Heights Program.
