Miss IGH Service Project

125lbs of rice later and my third service project became a success! I decided to make heat/cold packs to help people that are in pain and could use some comfort in their lives. This project took a lot more time than I expected and we had some setbacks to ensure recipient safety during covid-19, but I learned a lot along the way and I am grateful to my many family members that helped me! We finished with over 100 heat packs and dropped them off to be sanitized and delivered. Packs are going patients at various locations including the Northfield Retirement Community, Presbyterian Homes in Apple Valley, Life Course-MN, Abbot Northwestern Hospital, and Allina Health. I am excited for these heat/cold packs to provide comfort and support to the recipients and I hope they get a lot of use!

Junior Princess Sponsor Visit

Today I met with my sponsor Jim Norton. I got to see what he did and I got to take a picture with him. I talked to him about his business Custom Product and Services. He showed me what kind of things he did, it was really cool because he makes different custom products for a bunch of different businesses. His company makes standing tables and other things for schools, doctors offices, and many more businesses. I had a great time and I had so much fun talking to him.

Miss Princess Service Project

On Thursday, August 20th I completed my 3rd and final service project by donating toys and activities to the Center City Housing that is being built in Inver Grove Heights. I have been gathering toys for several months and the original place that I was going to be donating to was affected by the pandemic and was no longer able to take the toys. So, I reached out to Kelly from Center City Housing. Kelly was so nice to work with and you can tell she has a great passion for what she does, helping out people in need. This facility offers housing for families who are homeless or are at risk of being homeless, there is room to house up to 40 families. On top of offering these families housing, they also offer child care services and a school readiness program. I am so glad that I was able to use my resources to be able to help out this facility and the families that will be moving in very shortly.

Little Miss Service Project – Inver Grove Heights Fire Department

For my final service project, I choose to cook a homemade dinner for Station 2 of the Inver Grove Heights Fire Department. They do so much for our community, so I wanted to do something nice for them as a thank you. I made baked ziti, garlic bread, Caesar salad, and a french silk pie. I got to meet the fire Chief Judy and all of the firefighters on duty. Everyone was very nice. My favorite part was when I got to see all of the fire trucks.

Little Miss Sponsor Visit – Inver Grove Honda

This past weekend I was able to visit with my sponsor Inver Grove Honda. I am so thankful for their support. Without our sponsor’s support this program would not be possible. I was able to meet their management team and they were all so nice.

Miss Princess Sponsor Visit

On Thursday, August 6th, I visited my sponsor Bruce at Quality Auto Care Center. Bruce is such an amazing guy and does so much for the community and I am so grateful to have him as my sponsor. I stopped in and chatted with him for a little bit and told him about the plans of the scholarship program for the upcoming year. The Inver Grove Heights Scholarship Program values support from businesses such as Quality Auto Care Center as they allow us to make a difference in our community.

Service Project with Project Delta.

For my second service project, I decided to team up with a wonderful organization called Project Delta! With Project Delta, I fostered and helped train a dog named Sampson to become a service dog for a veteran suffering from PTSD. He attended trainings every Tuesday and the rest of the week he was in my care to keep training and stay active! My favorite trick was telling him to “hold it” and he would hold something in his mouth that you are handing to him. This could include things such as keys, a pill bottle, etc. It was a busy few months for the both of us and I was joyful to see him improve in responding to commands as well as become more focused in high stress situations. When I was notified that Sampson paired with a veteran it was hard to say goodbye, but I know he will help someone who really needs Sampson’s love and care!

Open Door Pantry

On Thursday, July 30th we volunteered at the Open Door Pantry in Eagan. The Open Door Pantry is an amazing organization that distributes food to the community. Here we helped shop for customers and pack boxes of nonperishable food items. Due to the Covid customers are not allowed to shop for themselves so we played a big part buy gathering the food items which they selected from a list, this was a little more difficult than before Covid because we had to pick it all ourselves. We were happy to help out with such a great organization. We also enjoyed meeting the other volunteers they were so helpful. At the end of our shift, we lent a hand in the cleanup process. We would like to thank The Open Door Pantry for letting us volunteer.

Terrific Tuesday at South Valley Park

On Tuesday, July 28, Teah, Marissa, and I attend Terrific Tuesday at South Valley Park. At this event, we helped set up and guide visitors to the show. This week at Terrific Tuesday there was a band that came to entertain the families. We loved singing along with the songs as well as helping get the kids excited about the music and being outdoors on a beautiful Tuesday morning. Thanks to Parks and Recreation for letting us attend this event.
