2014 Candy Cane Hunt

PC132822On Dec. 13, 2014, my royal sisters and I got to help with the IGH candy cane hunt at South Valley Park.  It was so much fun!!  This year was different than years before because we had mud instead of snow and it was chilly not freezing.
We started the day hanging up candy canes to decorate the park.  When the kids started to arrive we welcomed everyone who came and helped them get ready for the hunt.  My favorite part was when we got to count down to start the search for candy canes. The kids and their parents went up the hill to find as many candy canes as allowed.  As they finished, they brought their candy canes inside to get their prizes, hot apple cider and cookies.  Two lucky winners got golden candy canes and won a special prize and got to light the tree at “Holiday on Main Street” later that day.  It was a great experience I’ll never forget!

2014 Holiday on Main Street

PC132865

Today our royal family got the privilege of being part of Holiday on Main Street at the Veteran Memorial Community Center. We were in charge of the super bouncy house and the awesome crafts. There were tons of awesome kids that we got to meet and have fun with. We got to take pictures by the tree and write notes to santa. My favorite part was the Christmas tree lighting. It was so beautiful. I’m so glad we got to be a part of Holiday on Main Street, it was a blast!

Service Project

Cherise phine pic 012015 1600

On Tuesday December 9th I did my first service project. For this project I volunteered my time helping the volunteers at Regina Senior Living do manicures for the residents. I also handed out Christmas cards to all of the residents to make sure everyone felt included even if they weren’t getting their nails painted. We had a really long line of ladies who were looking forward to getting their fingernails done for Christmas time. It was nice to help. All the ladie’s nails looked so nice and I was even told by some of the nurses that even through January some of the residents still have their Christmas card up because it made them feel so special. I am looking forward to going back to do manicures again and next time the residents invited me to play bingo too.

2014 Special Olympics Holiday Party

SpecialOlympicsHolidayPartyAt this fun and unforgettable event we were able to do many fun activities with the Special Olympic participants that attended.  All of us loved getting to paint people’s nails (even the guys were getting into the spirit!), putting on holiday themed temporary tattoos and even doing face paintings!  We helped serve the potluck luncheon and the best part for everyone was seeing the man of Christmas….Santa Claus!  All the guests enjoyed receiving presents from him & getting their photo taken.  This definitely is what Christmas is all about.  Giving to others & spreading joy.

2014 Boo Bash

ighboobash2Tonight our royal family attended the Boo Bash held at the Veterans Memorial Community Center. We helped out with arts and crafts, guarded the bouncy house, and busted a move on the dance floor. There were so many great kinds that we got to meet and they ALL had rockin costumes! Our costumes weren’t so bad if I do say so myself! I had a blast talking and joking with everyone. My favorite part was definitely tearing up the dance floor. I had so much fun, this night was definitely fanta-boo-lus!

2014 Run For The Hills

056“Run for the Hills” was the event we attended on October 11, 2014 at Inver Hills Community College. This 5K walk/run is a fundraising event for the college. We started our day at registration where we talked to a lot of the participants, introduced ourselves and wished them luck. Some of the runners and walkers were dressed in cool Halloween costumes. Once the race was underway we went to a water table on the race route to hand out water and cheer them on. We even ran with some of them for a little bit. We met a lot of new people and had a lot of fun. Can’t wait for our next event!

See you soon!

2014 Good Samaritan Spaghetti Dinner

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOn October 9th, we went to Good Samaritan for the annual spaghetti dinner.  It was a blast!  We helped seat, serve, and then clean up peoples spots and then did it again!  I loved helping out.  It was amazing how many people showed up and I was happy to meet them and help them with dinner.  All the volunteers were wonderful and helped everybody else plus helping us girls with anything we needed, so thank you to all who volunteered.

2014 Step Up For Down Syndrome Walk

DownWalk1The only thing brighter than the sun today was the kid’s smiles!  Today, my royal sisters and I had the opportunity to participate in an event called Step Up For Down.  It is a Walk to help raise awareness & money for The Down’s Syndrome Organization.  The walk was around Como Lake and was a total of about 1 1/2 miles!  We had so much fun getting to meet all the amazing kids and playing with them before and during the walk.  One of our favorite things was taking pictures with some of the participants!   This was such a fun experience and I look forward to walking again next year!

2014 School Supply Delivery

2014-SchoolSupplies-1On September 18th, I had the pleasure of delivering all of the collected schools supplies that were donated by family, friends, candidates and past royalty. Enough school supplies were collected that each school visited had three boxes each!  I had the pleasure of delivering to Salem Hills Elementary, Hilltop Elementary, Simley High School, Inver Grove Heights Middle School, and Pine Bend Elementary.  I even got to visit the classroom of my 1st grade teacher, I haven’t seen her in 17 years!  Alex and I enjoyed seeing the excitement from teachers and office staff when they received the supplies!

On September 11, 2014 we had the awesome opportunity to go to –not one—but two ribbon cutting events.  The first ribbon cutting was for the re-opening of the Inver Glen Library located on the corner of 80th Ave and Blaine Ave, my favorite spot in all of Inver Grove.   The new extensions of the library are amazing and the interior is phenomenal. None of this would have been possible without all of the support of the Friends of the Library, Dakota County, the Building contractors and the community.

Our second event was the ribbon cutting of the Inver Grove Heights Early Learning Center located within the new addition at Hilltop Elementary School.  We got to tour the new building and see the classrooms and play area. We also got to hang out and dance with some of the new students that will be attending, which was my favorite part.  I had an awesome time bonding with my new sisters and the many members of our community. Looking back at the moves we were bustin’, this year will be awesome!
