2018 Miss Princess Service Project

July 23, 2018 by Rochelle VanKempen
For my final service project, I collected items to donate to the Animal Humane Society in Woodbury. I have two cats, and the well-being of animals is very important to me. I began the project by writing a letter requesting various items from the Humane Society’s wish list such as blankets, towels, newspapers, disinfectant wipes, plastic shopping bags, bleach, dish soap, paper towels, Kleenex, and zip-lock bags. I hand-delivered 100 of these letters around my neighborhood on July 4th, and I collected items until July 13th. There was such an amazing response, and I collected many, many great donations! In addition to the items given from the wish list, I also collected custom dog carriers and monetary donations from Target and my neighbors in IGH. Everyone was very generous, and I want to thank all who donated. I brought all of the donations to the Humane Society’s Woodbury location, and they were thrilled to receive them. I hope that this project was able to make a difference in the lives of animals in need!

Jr Miss Sponsor Visit

July 23, 2018 by Rochelle VanKempen

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the South Saint Paul/Inver Grove Heights Rotary Club for their sponsorship this year. Without their generous donation it would not have been possible. I have enjoyed going their meeting and learning all of the great things that they do like hosting a foreign exchange student. They have given me the opportunity as well to share my experiences with them. On my last visit I was joined by some of my current royalty as well as our current candidates. We had a delicious meal and were able to talk about all of the events that we have coming up and the candidates were able to see what the Rotary is all about as well. Thank you again for supporting our program!

On Wednesday, July 11th, we had the family picnic with the candidates. They introduced themselves, and their sponsors. After eating, we played lots of games, like bean bag toss, telephone, and spud. It was really fun to talk with the candidates and play games.

2018 Twins Sparkle night

July 19, 2018 by Rochelle VanKempen
On July 10th, my royal sisters and I, attended Twins Sparkle Night. We met at Fort Snelling and took the light rail to downtown. We got the opportunity to go down onto the field and walk around the track with other royalty groups and programs, like Gillette Children’s Hospital and the Winter Carnival royalty. We got to see TC Bear, which was exciting. Junior Miss Ashley, threw out the first pitch! It was really cool and she did a great job.
The Twins had a good start to the game, but the KC Royals ended up winning the game. It was a very long game and it was hot out, but we still had lots of fun. We are lots of yummy stuff, like cotton candy and popcorn. We took pictures by the Mickey Mouse statue and big glove.

Eagan Fun Fest 2018

July 13, 2018 by Rochelle VanKempen
On Wednesday, my royal sisters and I attended Eagan’s Fourth of July Fun Fest. We started off the morning with a delicious pre-parade breakfast of muffins and orange juice at Lost Spur Golf Club. We also were able to take pictures in the beautiful landscaping in the back of the club, and talk with other visiting royalty! Next we headed to the parade lineup. Unfortunately it started pouring outside, soaking everyone, and the parade had to be cancelled. The rain didn’t ruin our fun though, and we ended our day at the Eagan Fun Fest’s Brain Freeze ice cream eating competition. I didn’t come close to winning, but I was amazed to see how fast some people can eat ice cream!

June 27, 2018 by Rochelle VanKempen
On Tuesday June 12th 2018, the Miss Inver Grove Heights family, went to the Farmington coronation. There were so many princesses and fun things to see. I really enjoyed watching the new girls get crowned and congratulating and taking pictures with them. We talked and after had some socializing time. We all had a lot of fun and loved wearing our formal dresses. My favorite part was watching the coronation and watching the new girls get crowned.

2018 Junior Miss Ashleys Service Project

April 30, 2018 by Rochelle VanKempen

As Junior Miss I am responsible for completing two service projects. For my second service project I made Easter goody bags for the kids at Gillette Childrens Hospital.  Thank you to my family, friends, Greg Kuntz, and Dan and Carol Swenson without their help this project would not have been so successful.  I delivered the bags at the end of March so that the kids that would be staying at the hospital over Easter would have something to brighten their day and make them feel special. I am going to continue bringing gifts throughout my reign and many more years to come. I love working with children so much ,even though I did not get to work with them directly ,knowing that they would receive these bags made me very happy!

2018 Good Samaritan Brunch

April 30, 2018 by Rochelle VanKempen

On the afternoon of April 21st Felicia, Grace, and I attended the Good Samaritan luncheon. We

started off by greeting guests at the door and socializing. After everyone arrived we took our

seats and we were served a very delicious breakfast. We got to listen to one of Good Samaritan

board members talk about her experience with Good Samaritan. This was followed by a fashion

show in which family and friends of the Good Samaritan residents showcased clothing. Overall it

was a very fun and touching afternoon.
