Sunday Funday

On Sunday, April 24th, my royal sisters and I attended the Woodbury Fun Day. This was an event put on by the Woodbury ambassadors and it was so much fun. There were a lot of things to do like a bubble gum contest, dancing, and limbo. Unfortunately, none of us won the limbo contest but we still had a lot of fun participating. This event was also a great opportunity to see everyone again and meet some of the candidates for Big Lake.

Feed My Starving Children

My royal sisters and I went to Feed my Starving Children.  It’s a non-profit organization where people make packages of food to feed the hungry.

We started the volunteer session by watching a video that reviews the rules.  During the food packing session, we were yelling chants every time we finished a box-like “were in heaven, we’ve got seven”.  All the volunteers that night packed 103 boxes which is 22,248 meals.  That feeds 81 kids for a year and costs $5,339.52.  It was a fun way to give back to the hungry.

West Saint Paul Egg Hunt

On Saturday, April 16, 2022, my royal sisters and I did an event called the West Saint Paul Easter Egg Hunt. We got to draw pictures and positive messages on the walkways. We handed out gift bags after the kids brought up their eggs. We also played a couple of games while listening to music from the DJ. The sun was out and it was a great time!

Parks and Rec Egg Hunt

On Saturday, April 8th, my royal family and I helped Inver Grove Parks and Recreation and went to the Egg Hunt at Rich Valley Park. We helped spread out eggs and put out the signs for each age. Then the coordinators let us tell everyone the rules through the megaphone. It was a nice bonding experience for our group.  Plus it was a really fun community event. The kids had so much fun getting all the eggs.

Moose Lodge Breakfast

On Saturday, April 9th, the Inver Grove Heights Royal Family went out and celebrated an early Easter with The Moose Lodge 1088. Breakfast was served and we had the opportunity to run activities such as pin the tail on the bunny and a lucky spin. The Moose Lodge was also offering a pancake breakfast for everyone. About halfway through the event, the Easter Bunny showed up to say hello to all the kids. This was a great way to spend the morning and get to see the community together.

Vanessa’s first service project

My first service project was for the Salvation Army.  I rang a bell and did 2 hours, 2 times.
I volunteered with my mom and a second time with my sister, Annaleigh.
It was so cold so, my dad brought us hot chocolate.
Although it was really cold, it warmed my heart that I was helping people.
We were able to get a lot of donations, sing carols and I spent quality time with my family.
I can’t wait to volunteer as a bell ringer again.

Katies Second Service Project

For my second service project, I volunteered with Project Fairy Godmothers.  https://www.facebook.com/projectfairygodmothers/ It is an amazing organization.  They hold a prom event every year to help girls get the dresses and accessories for prom at no cost. I also collected prom dresses to donate. I ended up with a total of 140 dresses.  Then after collecting them, sorting and hanging them up, I loaded them up to drop off.  I was also able to volunteer at the setup event for over 3 hours. I mated and sized shoes, helped sort dresses and so much more. It was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to volunteer again next year.

Katies Service Project

I have always loved to read, and I think the Little Free Libraries are such a great feature of our town. I know I always love checking books out from the library but I always had late fees. So these libraries are great to get new books for kids. For my 1st service project, I chose to collect books and distribute them in the 14 Little Free Libraries across Inver Grove Heights. I had a goal of 300 books and collected 387 In less than a week. I went out various times throughout the winter to fill the boxes. I still have enough books to continue on and keep filling the libraries longer.

Salems Hills Winter event

“This was a great event.  We sat by the photo booth awhile then, we looked around.  When we went inside, there was a lollipop tree that we all got to do.  They also had a wheel and snacks at the carnival.  We went over to watch people sled and found people playing baseball.  We tried to catch the ball but unfortunately, never did.  We were able to help people find where the buses were.  We finished the night by dancing until the end.  I enjoyed participating with the other IGH Royalty.

Torchlight Parade

On a frosty February 5th, the Inver Grove Heights Royal Family celebrated the end of Winter Carnival. After a glorious 10 days, we arrived at the Vulcan Torch Light Parade. It was such a great opportunity to see everyone again and get to know our current carnival family a little better. While it may have been cold, there was so much warmth going around. I am always amazed by how much everyone comes together during the Winter Carnival. Overall it was a fun night and a perfect way to end the Winter Carnival.
